One thing that I think every couple want is to put their own personal details in to the day, so its one to remember for a lifetime. It can be difficult to come up with unique elements for the ceremony, especially if you want to keep to a traditional theme. Being outrageous and extravagant isnt for everyone, so keep it simple with these ideas for subtle ceremony style.
As Guests Arrive
Is is often a collection of classical string music that plays while guests are arriving and being seated, as it is appropriate for the setting.
The Twist: Create a playlist of all your favourite songs as a couple and have them play instead. You can chose slow and romantic songs or go for whatever tunes are your favourites. Either way, your guests will recognise them as being chosen by you and it will give a really personal feel to the traditional ceremony.
Religious or civil ceremonies will have statutory vows to read, but that can be added to, I would advise always asking the permission of whoever is carrying out the ceremony befote hand.
The Twist: You can can still write your own vows in addition to the religious or civil ceremony requirements, to add you own touch to the proceedings. Its always nice to talk about your shared aspirations for the future and when you first fell in love, but be careful not to make it too personal and intimate (after all, there is a room of your family and friends listening).
Whether you have a religious ceremony of not the reading should be as specific to you as the rest of the wedding.
The Twist: Chose a close friend with a creative flair and get them to write something special for the day. Alternatively have an older couple in your family, that have been married for a long time, for example a grandparent, to talk about what love means to them. Their life and love experience will really keep your guest blubbing.
This can often be a cause for nervousness amongst couples, but there is no reason why you cant make this a special moment for more reasons than one.
The Twist: Surprise your new husband and guests with a display of confetti or party popper just as you lock lips. No one will be expecting it, so the applause and excitement will be enormous, perfect to break in to celebration mode as you leave the church as man and wife.
